Community Speed Watch is operated by Devon and Cornwall Police to help people reduce speeding traffic through their community. The scheme enables volunteers to work within their community to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding and to help control the problem locally.

West Hill has a team of six trained volunteers who operate a radar gun at approved sites in the village.  Those detected speeding are not prosecuted but receive a written warning from the police. Subsequent infringements will lead to their details being recorded on the police national computer.
